The first Acura NSX appeared a decade ago, and since that
time the speedster has exemplified what a sports car should
offer. That which the NSX provides can best be described
as raw power, superb handling and a major dosage of style.
It all starts with solid craftsmanship and extensive road
testing. Aluminum alloy unibody members are used to handle
stresses calculated in supercomputer simulations, while
the NSX's engine components are designed to move with the
least possible friction. In the end, the finished product
emerges worthy of the name Acura.
Available Models
The 2004 Acura NSX is offered in one model trim, with two
engines made available.
Interior Features
When you build a sports car, you make the driver's position
the central focus of your interior design. This the makers
at Acura have done, giving whoever's driving the 2004 Acura
NSX a rewarding experience.
The 2004 Acura NSX is equipped with deeply-sculpted bucket
seats that position the driver close to the center of gravity.
The seats are hand-fitted with glove-soft leather and power-adjust
four ways.
A trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer is new to the 2004 NSX,
and it contributes to the overall sound quality of the car.
The sound system's 165 watts come from four speakers, a
subwoofer near the passenger's feet, a mid-range/tweeter
behind the seats and a midrange speaker mounted low and
forward on each door.
Exterior Features
The 2004 Acura NSX gives you the freedom to drive in the
open air with a removable top. The lightweight aluminum
roof panel comes off quickly when you rotate a lever on
each side.
Performance
For performance, the Acura NSX is fitted with an all-aluminum
3.2-liter V6 engine. It cranks out 290 horsepower at 7100
rpm (8000 rpm redline) and 224 lb-ft of torque at 5500 rpm.
The NSX is a rear-wheel drive model. Standard with the
3.2-liter V6 is a 6-speed manual gearbox. It uses a heavy-duty
clutch that reduces shift load by 40 to 50 percent with
dual- and triple-cone synchronizers.
The 2004 Acura NSX also offers a 4-speed automatic transmission
model with its own engine. The engine is a 3.0-liter V6,
and it produces 252 horsepower at 6600 rpm (7500 rpm redline)
and 210 lb-ft of torque at 5300 rpm.
Safety and Security
The Acura NSX has Torque Reactive Differential, which helps
you stay in control by limiting spin on the inside wheel
as you turn a corner. Other safety features include antilock
4-wheel disc brakes and dual front airbags.
