Stylish and contemporary, the new 2002 Suzuki Esteem Sedan
possesses a refined fluidity, versatile array of standard
and optional equipment, and good performance at an economical
price tag. The Esteem Sedan makes for an excellent choice
whether for family, as a second car, or for up-and-coming
young couples. Its attractive design will appeal to a broad
spectrum of drivers, and its sensible nature makes it a
great driving solution.
Available Models
The Suzuki Esteem Sedan is available for 2002
in two terrific models - the well-appointed Esteem GL Sedan,
and the more luxurious Esteem GLX Sedan. Each model packs
some pretty impressive specifications inside and out.
Interior Features
Within the cabin of the Suzuki Esteem GL Sedan
is standard fare that includes an AM/FM stereo with in-dash
CD player, air conditioning, remote fuel door release, remote
trunk release, and a convenient folding rear seat to increase
cargo capacity when required.
The Esteem GLX Sedan adds to the list power windows, power
door locks, cruise control, driver and passenger vanity
mirrors, and a split folding rear seat. The advantage of
the split feature for the rear seat is the ability to accommodate
one or two passengers in the rear while at the same time
allowing longer items such as skis to extend easily into
the passenger area. The GLX also features front seatback
pockets, and both models offer optional floor mats. The
cargo capacity is 12 cubic feet, and each vehicle seats
five passengers.
Exterior Features
From the exterior of the Esteem GL Sedan we find
fourteen-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, multi-reflector
halogen headlights, body-colored bumpers, and body side
moldings. The Suzuki Esteem GLX sports fourteen-inch aluminum
wheels, and both front and rear splash guards. Each model
offers accessories like a sporty trunk lid spoiler and fog
lights.
Performance Specifications
Both the Esteem GL and GLX Sedans pack a 2.0-litre,
16-valve, DOHC, four-cylinder engine that produces 122 horsepower
and 117 lbs-ft of torque. The standard transmission is five-speed
manual for each vehicle, and the convenience and ease of
four-speed automatic transmission is available as an option
as well. For the manual variety, the fuel consumption rating
is 28/35 mpg (city/hwy), while the automatic versions check
in at 26/33 mpg (city/hwy).
Among the outstanding features are a MacPherson strut front
suspension, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, direct
ignition system, liquid-filled motor mounts, and a zero-maintenance
self-adjusting two-stage timing chain.
Safety and Security
The Suzuki Esteem GL Sedan is equipped with standard
safety features such as integrated front and rear crumple
zones, second-generation dual air bags, reinforced side
impact door beams, and an energy-absorbing steering column.
As well, the GL is bolstered with height-adjustable shoulder
belts, rear door child safety locks, child seat tether anchors,
and an internal trunk release handle. The Esteem GLX Sedan
adds a remote keyless entry system.
