Visit Dodge for more information on the Dodge Caravan.

Teamed up with its larger brother (the Grand Caravan), the Caravan has the honor of being America's best-selling minivan. What could have brought this about? Perhaps taking a brief glance at what the 2003 Dodge Caravan offers will answer the question. In short, the Caravan performs steadily, offers a spacious seating arrangement, lets passengers and drivers relax on its interior and protects them at the same time.

The 2003 Dodge Caravan is a no-nonsense vehicle that doesn't skimp on the goods. It has performed for years and will continue to do so for decades.

Available Models
The 2003 Dodge Caravan is offered in two trim levels: SE and Sport. The Dodge Grand Caravan is covered in a separate review.

Interior Features
The 2003 Dodge Caravan holds seven passengers in three rows of seating. There's plenty of space to move about and store items in, as is evidenced by the Caravan's 146.7 cubic ft. of cargo volume.

The entry-level SE model covers all of the necessities, including front air conditioning, power steering, a digital clock and more. Naturally, with the uplevel Sport trim more is provided, such as a trip computer, dual zone manual climate control, remote keyless entry plus a slew of other features. There are countless add-ons available as well. Tri-zone manual climate control, CD players, cruise control and more occupy the list.

Exterior Features
The 2003 Dodge Caravan has two sliding side doors for quick entry and exiting. When the kids want to cram in and out of the car, this allows them to do it with ease.

Performance
There are two engines offered with the 2003 Dodge Caravan. The first, standard with the entry-level SE trim, is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 167 lb-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. Sport models receive a 3.3-liter V6 that pumps out 180 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 210 lb-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. 4-speed automatic transmission is mated to both engine types.

The Caravan handles well for a minivan, in part because of a tough suspension system and in part because of precise steering wheel calibration. It can maneuver in and out of parking spaces with an uncommon agility.

Safety and Security
Dual front airbags are standard. The Caravan's front seat belt pretensioners remove up to 3.9 inches of slack before airbags are deployed. With the Sport trim, antilock brakes are standard (optional with the SE model). Front side airbags are optional.
